In the never ending torrent of negativity and self-deprecation, David Kirby's newest effort is about appreciating what you have, embracing the present and trying to be a better person.

Mixed by New Zealand based producer Jake Stokes, ‘Of Pirates & Supermen’ is a 4-Minute barnstormer that builds from a simple lament into a full bluster attack on the senses.

Described by one reviewer as “what it would sound like (if) Green Day and The Avett Brothers got in a bar fight.” The track is a triumphant genre-mash that melds the powerful gut-wrenching vocals of a classic ballad, the high-octane energy of a punk rock banger and the trademark dry-witted lyrics that have come to define David Kirby as a songwriter.

For all the books I never read
That I borrowed from my dearest friends

Instead of staring at this tiny screen
